In the realm of television, Marvel’s earliest properties were mostly animated adaptations, with The Marvel Superheroes, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man bringing ten of Marvel’s iconic heroes to life. While Marvel initially struggled to have consistently successful screen adaptations of its beloved comic characters, the MCU soon gave Marvel’s characters and lore mainstream appeal, making up for decades of canceled film and TV projects. Marvel quickly cemented itself as one of the two most popular and influential comic publishers in the early 1960s when, thanks to characters like the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, Marvel challenged and defied the accepted norms of superhero fiction. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a dominant force on television and in cinemas for well over a decade, yet Marvel has numerous scrapped TV shows that would have been fascinating to see.
